Congratulations to these winners in the “Continue the Commitment” promotion! These individuals were among the many who have shared their stories about why they Commit for Life. In addition to having their stories featured here, they are the recipients of 500 points for the Commit for Life store.

Fran Green:

"I was given blood during brain surgery for a birth defect in my arteries that ruptured and needed surgical correction. I was five months pregnant at the time.

Commit for Life means there will always be blood available for the people who need it, like my daughter and I did that day in March of 1980. I have been giving back to the generous people who saved our lives since then."

Rebecca Green:

"Giving blood to save lives in a no-brainer choice for me.  The donation centers and mobile stations seem to always have professional and courteous people to help through the process.

"Because I had a heart attack July 2008 and the blood transfusion in October 2008, I'm not able to give right now but I am determined to recruit extra people to give in my place. Last year there was a T-shirt give away (I think it always helps when there is a promotional item) I challenged the class in my church to come out and there were three people that gave for the first time.

"Last year on my birthday, I had my party at the Katy Donor Center.  I sent out invitations to all my friends and told them that this is the best birthday gift they could give me. I don't accept people's excuses very well and it almost becomes a dare to get them out.  My church singles group now tries to go once a quarter and we go out to eat afterwards - a win/win."
