About Our Education and Training Services
The Education and Training Department at The Blood Center offers the following educational programs:
- Educational services – including audio conferences, Gulf Coast Regional Immunohematology Proficiency Survey (GRIPS), e-GRIPS, Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) review, and the annual Bill T. Teague Lectureship.
- Research grants and scholarships – including scholarships for Medical Laboratory Science students, SBB students and pathology residents or fellows.
- Gulf Coast School of Blood Bank Technology – a 12-month distance education program designed for medical technologists and clinical laboratory scientists who want to advance their knowledge and career in blood banking and its related disciplines. This online program utilizes web-based course management system to deliver didactic content to offer a flexible educational experience that does not require on-site attendance.
