As a mother-to-be, Kim anxiously awaited her new baby boy. About two months before her due date, she became very ill and required multiple units of blood. As a result, Andrew was born premature and also required three O-negative units. With a father and husband who donate regularly, Kim realized the importance of their donations when blood donors saved hers and her son's lives. "If it were not for the unknown heroes who donated blood, we would not be alive to tell our story," Kim says.
