Spotlight on Success
For more than 30 years, Huntsville Churches has saved countless lives; however, this isn’t your typical church drive. On the second Saturday of every month, more than 17 churches put their denominations aside and join together to save lives. In the last year, more than 1,000 donations were collected – saving more than 3,000 lives. Read more.

The "Reindeer Brigade" surprised patients at Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital with a holiday gift. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center employees visited the hospitals to deliver teddy bears as part of the Holiday Hugs program. Read more.
Spotlight on Success: Rice University chairperson lets students take the reins
Rice University blood drive chairperson R. Mac Griswald takes a unique, but very successful approach to saving lives.
He oversees drives held by 10 different groups on campus (nine colleges and The Student Center), each of which has its own student chairperson and committee. As a result, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center has had 22 blood drives with the various groups on campus this year, collecting an impressive total of 888 donations. Read more.

New Mobile Operations Complex Will Replace Warehouse Destroyed in 2005 Fire
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center today celebrates the ground-breaking for a new building that will, among other functions, replace the warehouse destroyed by fire in 2005. The new Mobile Operations Complex will accommodate Central Supply and other staff to allow sufficient room for the organization’s projected growth over the next several years.

Pasadena Neighborhood Donor Center grand reopening
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is excited to announce its new location in Pasadena. The Pasadena Neighborhood Donor Center has moved to 5124 Fairmont Parkway from its previous location at 3315 Burke Road.The grand reopening will take place on Dec. 4, with the Neighborhood Donor Center accepting donations at 1 p.m. that day. The center will be open five days a week with flexible hours to make it convenient for individuals to Commit for Life.

Due to a recent fire in the building adjacent to the Memorial City Neighborhood Donor Center, we have temporarily moved our operations to Memorial City Mall and will open for donations on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 12 p.m. The donor center is located just inside the main mall entrance next to Target off Gessner Street. Management, employee and customer support create the perfect formula for saving lives at Commercial Bank of Texas. A blood drive partner since 1998, the bank Commits for Life by sponsoring blood drives at its Nacogdoches facility at least once a quarter - every eight weeks, to be exact. Celebration of Life - East Texas
The Blood Center – East Texas recently held “A Celebration
of Life” dinner and awards ceremony at the Fredonia Hotel in
Nacogdoches. The event recognized the life-saving efforts
of gold-level donors, 10-gallon or higher donors, gold-level groups
and high school scholarship recipients.
It also was an opportunity for BCET donors to meet President and CEO Brian G. Gannon, who appeared at the event alongside BCET Director Mary Frances Bradford and President and CEO Emeritus Bill T. Teague. A woman who personally understands the importance of blood donations, Kathy Hiebert, also shared her story of how volunteer blood donors saved the lives of her twins, Brooke and Brett.
