Congratulations Dee Connors

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is excited to congratulate Dee Connors, one of two winners in the Continental Airlines BusinessFirst giveaway. Connors is the winner of two BusinessFirst tickets to any Transatlantic, Pacific, Hawaii or Brazil destination where Continental flies.

Her name was randomly selected from more than 30,000 individuals who donated or attempted to donate between Nov. 21 and Dec. 31, 2005. The BusinessFirst giveaway was held to encourage blood donations during the holiday season, an important time for blood donations since many regular donors go out of town and are unable to donate.

Connors, a research scientist for a pharmaceutical company, chose to Commit for Life after hearing blood recipients’ personal testimonies in The Blood Center’s television spots. She now donates platelets at the Sugar Land Neighborhood Donor Center and is committed to giving as often as possible in 2006. Connors said she travels frequently, but is thrilled at the opportunity to plan her “dream vacation.”

Doug McClain, chief information and donor services officer for The Blood Center, presented the tickets to Connors in a Jan. 31 ceremony at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s headquarters.
