Students’ enthusiasm sets new record for saving lives
![]() |
The students at Barbara Jordan High School for Careers learned recently that their commitment to a successful blood drive wields a lot of lives saved. The school hosted its first blood drive of the school year last November, with Health Science Technology students taking charge.
Using the tools provided by The Power of Life high school blood drive program, they made the drive a great experience for everyone involved – from the donors to the student volunteers.
“Our class had a blast signing our classmates up to donate, running the drive as smoothly as possible and doing whatever we could to help save lives,” says student Candi Davila.
The students’ recruitment efforts brought in 144 donors – a record number for the school. Students took pictures throughout the blood drive to recognize those who gave and to encourage others to consider donating in the future.
“I know our next drive will be even better!” Davila says.
